Leicester City pay EFL £3.1m Financial Fair Play fine after agreeing to settle dispute from end of 2013-14 season

Leicester have paid the EFL £3.1million to settle a dispute over Financial Fair Play regulations that arose from the club’s Championship-winning season.

The EFL ruled Leicester had broken the £8m cap on losses during the 2013-14 campaign by posting a deficit of £20.8m – but the club argued £13m of it was ‘allowable’ as it included bonuses arising from promotion and academy improvements.

The two parties have been in arbitration since Leicester confirmed in March 2017 they were contesting the EFL’s judgement and Wednesday’s announcement marks the end of the process.
