Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is set for a lengthy spell on the sid-lines after undergoing surgery on a broken bone in his hand, boss Claudio Ranieri has revealed.
The Danish shot-stopper suffered the injury during the first half of the Foxes' goalless Champions League draw against FC Copenhagen on Wednesday night.
Despite the fracture, Schmeichel soldiered on and managed to make a couple of crucial late saves to earn his side a valuable point.
The 29-year-old saw a specialist on Leicester's return to England on Thursday and he had an operation to correct the damage that evening.
