Leicester City caretaker manager Craig Shakespeare hopes they will reprise spirit of great escape

Leicester are ready to reprise the fighting spirit of their great escape from relegation two seasons ago, according to caretaker manager Craig Shakespeare.

Stepping in to replace sacked Claudio Ranieri for the visit of Liverpool, the first-team coach was a central figure in 2014-15 as Leicester won seven of the last nine Premier League games to stage a miraculous recovery after spending months in last place.

Shakespeare would be considered a contender for the managerial role beyond the game against Jurgen Klopp's team should Leicester gain a positive result and the 53-year-old believes the players are prepared to battle as they did under Nigel Pearson.
