As part of pulling off the most unexpected league title win in history, Claudio Ranieri has joined Zinedine Zidane and Fernando Santos on the shortlist for The Best FIFA Men’s Coach award.
The Italian manager, who defied odds of 5,000/1 to complete a fairy tale ending for the former Premier League strugglers, is one of only three names on the shortlist that has been trimmed down from 10.
Despite never winning a top flight title, the affable 65 year-old captured the imagination of the football world as he led his unfancied team to the Premier League.
The Foxes started the season impressively, during a run that included Jamie Vardy breaking the record by scoring in 11 consecutive games, and never slipped below sixth in the table.
