Leicester earned a welcome victory in European competition after their recent domestic struggles but their win over Randers was overshadowed by a worrying incident involving James Maddison.
Barely 15 minutes after coming on as a substitute, Maddison was taken off after having medical attention as he lay on the turf. The playmaker seemed to be conscious throughout but Leicester took no chances and, after medical staff were seen checking his pulse, he was replaced by Hamza Choudhury.
Maddison walked straight down the tunnel as Leicester waited to be updated on his condition. Goals from Wilfred Ndidi, Harvey Barnes, Patson Daka and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall gave Brendan Rodgers’ men a comfortable lead ahead of next week’s second leg in Denmark, with Vito Hammershoj-Mistrati briefly equalising for the visitors before half-time.
