Kasper Schmeichel all smiles after hernia operation as Leicester City goalkeeper targets return for Denmark against Armenia on Sunday

Kasper Schmeichel underwent successful hernia surgery on Monday, and the Leicester City goalkeeper is already planning on a return to action this weekend.

Schmeichel went under the knife after a blow sustained in Leicester's 2-1 win over Swansea caused further damage to a hernia problem the 29-year-old has been nursing for most of the last month.

After coming off in the second half against the Swans, Schmeichel is unlikely to miss any club action and is targeting a playing return in just a matter of days. 'Operation went well. Recovery starts now! I'll do everything in my power to get fit for our massive game against Armenia on Sunday,' Schmeichel said.
