Jamie Vardy's V9 Academy has more success as forward Lamar Reynolds joins League Two Newport County

Jamie Vardy's V9 Academy has proved the pathway to professional football for another non-league player with Newport County signing Lamar Reynolds.

The 21-year-old forward impressed during the five-day course at Manchester City' s Etihad complex, scoring in a 3-2 win over Welsh champions The New Saints during a showcase match.

Reynolds played for Brentwood Town last season in the Isthmian League North, the eighth tier of the English game, and scored 28 goals in 36 starts to win the club's player of the year award.

Newport, who finished League Two in 22nd place, hope he can replicate that form in a division four levels higher to avoid another relegation scrap this coming season.
