A non-league player who once counted Andre Gray as a teammate is aiming to follow the same trajectory when Jamie Vardy’s V9 Academy takes place next month.
Danny Newton has hit 29 goals for National League North side Tamworth this season and will be one of the main draws when scouts from Premier League to League Two descend on Manchester City’s Etihad Campus for the five-day course between June 5 to 9.
Vardy is trying to unearth the next player capable of making the leap from the part-time game to professional and the 42 places have now been filled by promising non-league players.
