Jamie Vardy's V9 Academy attracts 1,500 applicants

Jamie Vardy has received more good news off the back of his Ballon d'Or nomination after figures showed applications to his V9 Academy have topped 1,500 for just 42 available places.

It has also been confirmed that the project to unearth the next non-league star will be broadcast as a fly-on-the-wall documentary on Sky Sports and filming on scouting missions has already started.

The team behind the V9 Academy are currently sifting through the players looking to get a spot on the five-day course, to be held at Manchester City's Etihad Campus next summer.
