James Maddison admits he's 'desperate' to get on the pitch as he waits for his first World Cup minutes after his much-clamoured-for Qatar call-up - and England star insists he's '100 per cent' fit after knee injury

England midfielder James Maddison has admitted that he is 'desperate' to get on the pitch as he battles for his first World Cup minutes after his shock Qatar call-up.

The Leicester City star has declared that he is '100 per cent' fit and raring to go after missing the first two group stage games through injury.

Maddison proved to be one of the biggest selection headaches for Gareth Southgate with many publicly calling for him to be included in the 26-man squad.

And while Southgate answered those pleas by including the midfielder who has seven goals and four assists to his name this season, he has not yet called upon Maddison in Qatar.
