Gary Neville has told talkSPORT England players were picked for Euro 2016 on the basis of faith in ability rather than form.
The Three Lions crashed out of the tournament in France in an embarrassing defeat to Iceland in the last 16, a reverse that cost assistant manager Neville and manager Roy Hodgson their jobs.
There was widespread criticism of some of the selections, but Neville has defended the policy of keeping faith with players who had performed well in qualifying at the expense of those who ended the season at the top of their games.
