Emma Raducanu's fairytale US Open win in 2021 is Britain's favourite sporting underdog story of the last 60 years, according to research conducted by Specsavers.
The Optometry giants polled 2,000 Brits in a new study and found that 34 percent of participants favoured the then 18-year-old's startling triumph at Flushing Meadows.
Ranked 150th in the world, Raducanu became the first player to win a Grand Slam title after coming through the qualifying rounds and the first British woman to win a major since Virgina Wade in 1977.
She came in just ahead of Leicester City's shocking 2016 Premier League win and Eddie the Eagle Edwards' ski jump efforts at the Winter Olympics in 1988, which received backing of 33 and 27 percent respectively.
