Curtis Davies insists huddle after Leicester win let out frustration following shambolic pre-season for Hull City

Curtis Davies described the huddle he led after Hull’s shock victory over champions Leicester as a means of venting frustrations over a shambolic pre-season — but he called for fresh signings quickly as ‘there’s only so far you can get on emotion’.

The centre back called his team together after helping guide the crisis club to a deserved win that came even with caretaker manager Mike Phelan declining to make a single substitute due to his threadbare squad.

Hull have just 13 fit senior players after sales, injuries and a failure to make any signings. The match was preceded by fan protests against owner Assem Allam.
