Claudio Ranieri says his'dream died' as ex-Leicester boss releases statement following sacking on Thursday

Sacked Leicester City manager says his ‘dream died’ as he spoke for the first time since being dismissed from the club on Thursday.

The Italian led the Foxes to an unprecedented title last season but the dream has turned sour as the team hurtled towards the relegation zone.

Caretaker manager Craig Shakespeare denied rumours that a player revolt was behind Ranieri’s sacking and rebuffed suggestions there was a rift between the pair.

“Yesterday my dream died after the euphoria of last season and being crowned Premier League champions,” said Ranieri in a statement.
