Claudio Ranieri hoping Leicester will not miss Danny Drinkwater during three-game ban: 'He is important but I'm sure the team will react very well'

Claudio Ranieri said Danny Drinkwater was correct to accept his fate of a three-game ban for elbowing Valon Behrami but hopes the midfielder's absence will not prove costly.

Leicester are two points above the Premier League relegation zone after two successive defeats and host Middlesbrough for Saturday's game minus one of their most influential players.

The England international was hit with a retrospective suspension by the FA after referee Neil Swarbrick missed the incident. Drinkwater has been ruled out of the game against Boro, the trip to Sunderland, and the Manchester City fixture.

'He made a mistake, it's right to accept this, that's the law and we accept,' said Ranieri.
