Oakland Raiders linebacker Vontaze Burfict was suspended Monday for the remainder of the 2019 NFL season for his hit vs. Colts tight end Jack Doyle. This marks Burfict’s third suspension for violating the league’s player protection policy and Raiders Report host Mitchell Renz has the details on Burfict’s 12-game suspension, Nevin Lawson’s return, Jordan Levey’s injury and the possibility of Jay Gruden teaming up with his brother Jon Gruden to join the Raiders’ 2020 coaching staff.
Jay Gruden and the Redskins are off to a 0-4 start in Washington and rumors have started to circulate that Guden could be out the door. With left tackle Trent Williams still holding out and Jay reluctant to start rookie QB Dwayne Haskins, the Redskins season isn’t looking too bright. If Jay is out the door in D.C., could he possibly team up with his brother Jon in Oakland? People are talkin’.
Stefon Diggs is another name that has been linked to the Raiders organization as of late. Diggs trade rumors started to build and the Vikings wide receiver is clearly frustrated. But is Minnesota even interested in trading him and could the Raiders be on the short list of candidates to land the WR? Don’t hold your breath. In order for Raiders to land Stefon Diggs, the Raiders would have to give up a first round draft pick plus Diggs is on a five-year $72MM contract. Mitch is giving this one zero Chucky Heads. Diggs is saying the same thing.
