ALAMEDA — Still looking for a veteran presence in the middle of their defense without spending a high-end draft pick on a linebacker during the draft, the Raiders are scheduled to meet with former Kansas City Chiefs star Derrick Johnson Thursday.
The visit not only provides an option for the Raiders in terms defensive help, but serves notice to unrestricted free agent NaVorro Bowman they’re willing to go in another direction.
The Raiders’ interest in Johnson was first reported by ESPN.
