What they’re saying after Raiders draft Ashton Jeanty: John Spytek makes polarizing pick in his first draft

With the sixth pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders selected Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.

Heading into the draft, running back was one of the Raiders’ biggest needs and the team’s biggest hole offensively. So, John Spytek and Pete Carroll opted to use their first pick of the draft on the best player at the position.

Jeanty became known for his ability to make defenders miss last season, forcing 152 missed tackles, according to Pro Football Focus. That was 49 more than any other running back, and his 1,970 rushing yards after first contact led the country by nearly 750 yards.
