ALAMEDA — Everyone starts somewhere, and for Derek Carr, it was at MetLife Stadium against the New York Jets in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The rookie second-round draft pick out of Fresno State was surprised to learn from coach Dennis Allen before the practice week began that he would be the starter over Matt Schaub, who had a sore elbow. Not only that, but it was also Carr’s job to keep, barring injury.
Carr plays at MetLife for the first time since his debut Sunday when the Raiders visit the Jets.
Carr was sharp when it came to details about the Raiders’ 19-14 loss to the Rob Ryan-coached Jets.
