Luke Del Rio has called it a career, and recently appeared on the “On Q Podcast” with a former Florida teammate that included a funny story featuring Alabama coach Nick Saban and Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper.
The son of Raiders coach Jack Del Rio began his college career as an Alabama walk-on rather than accept scholarship offers from other schools. He left for Oregon State (and eventually Florida) when it became clear his non-scholarship status was going to be an issue when it came to playing time.
Rather than return for a sixth year of eligibility, Del Rio, following shoulder surgery, opted to move on from his playing days, as noted by his dad Jack on Twitter.
