The Oakland Raiders are taking no chances with their proposed move, it seems.
According to the US Patent and Trademark Office, the Raiders have filed to trademark the phrase "Las Vegas Raiders." The trademark application was made on Aug. 20 and covers "education and entertainment services in the nature of professional football games and exhibitions" as well as clothing and merchandise.
The Raiders are currently on a one-year lease at the Coliseum and have actively scouted potential stadium sites in Los Angeles, San Antonio and Las Vegas.
Raiders owner Mark Davis said he would be willing to pay $500 million to build a new stadium in Vegas.
