The Oakland Raiders are releasing cornerback Sean Smith, a source told ESPN's Dan Graziano.
The move saves the Raiders $8.5 million on their salary cap.
Smith, 30, is the second cornerback released by the Raiders this offseason, joining David Amerson, who was released last month. Amerson later signed with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Smith played in 14 games (eight starts) for the Raiders last season, his second in Oakland. He finished the season with two interceptions.
A veteran of nine seasons, Smith also has played for the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs and has 14 interceptions, 102 passes defensed and 424 tackles in his career.
