The NFL suspended former Raiders safety Taylor Mays four games of the 2016 season, a league source said on Monday afternoon.

The NFL Network reports that Mays was suspended for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Mays is currently an unrestricted free agent.

Mays played 322 defensive snaps for the Silver and Black last season. He played 14 games and made five starts, recording 26 tackles and five passes defensed in the process.

Mays, the 49ers’ second-round draft pick in 2010, was signed by the Raiders during last year’s preseason, cut and then re-signed during the regular season.
