One of the biggest offseason stories in the NFL has been how undervalued running backs are.
The 2023 season of Josh Jacobs is another example why. Running backs simply have a hard time keeping up a long line of heavy production.
Check out this recent tweet by the Associated Press:
In 2022, #Raiders Josh Jacobs had 8th season of 390+ scrimmage touches in last 15 seasons. Here’s how much the others dropped in scrimmage yards the next season:
Chris Johnson -900
Arian Foster -379
Foster -916
DeMarco Murray -1,237
Le’Veon Bell sat out
McCaffrey -2,018…— Josh Dubow (@JoshDubowAP) December 29, 2023This is pretty solid evidence that running backs simply have a hard time performing at a high level for an extended period.
