Heading into the 2017 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders owned the 24th overall selection, which was a welcomed change of pace from the usual top 10 selections Raider Nation had grown accustomed to having for the better part of the last decade.
With that pick, the common line of thinking was that Reggie McKenzie would address the defensive side of the ball, with the secondary being the most likely group depending on how the board played out.
Gareon Conley was considered to be one of the three best cornerbacks coming out of the draft, and when he fell to 24, there was surely little to no opposition to making him the pick.
