CLEVELAND — It’s now safe to officially chalk up the Raiders’ Week 1 blowout loss to the Bengals to overconfidence. The Raiders were so positive that they were turning things around with their young talent and new coaching staff, they weren’t mentally locked in.
That’s got to be it, after Oakland came into Cleveland and dominated the Browns for three quarters before holding on to win 27-20 on Sunday. It’s the first time the Raiders (2-1) have won two games in row since 2011 and the win breaks an 11-game road losing streak.
The Raiders made coach Jack Del Rio sweat, though, as the Browns scored 10 points in the fourth quarter and were driving with less than a minute left.
