Matt McGloin is harder to kill than Rasputin. Sometimes hot, sometimes cold, the Raiders’ backup quarterback is a survivor.
Remember, he was the first walk-on quarterback to start at Penn State in more than 60 years. Then he set the school record for career touchdown passes and the single-season passing yardage record.
Then he went back, briefly, to being a nobody. He wasn’t drafted in 2013 and didn’t impress Washington and Carolina in tryouts. But he landed in Oakland as a third-stringer. Late that season, he threw three touchdown passes in a 28-23 win over Houston and played well in two losing efforts.
