The Raiders are getting some help in the return game.
ESPN is reporting the Raiders are signing wide receiver/return specialist Walter Powell off the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad. Powell seemed to confirm the move on his Twitter account, retweeting the post by ESPN’s Field Yates.
Powell played in four games last season for the New York Jets and returned 12 punts for 48 yards and eight kicks for 233 yards, with a long of 62. The product of Murray State, a sixth round pick in 2014, doesn’t have any NFL receptions.
He had a 54-yard punt return for a touchdown in the Jets’ preseason victory over the New York Giants earlier this year, but still ended up as one of the team’s final cuts.
