The Raiders are plucking one from the enemy, signing former longtime Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson, NFL Network’s Mike Silver reported Friday morning.
Johnson has played for Oakland’s division rival from 2005-17 – his entire career – and made four Pro Bowls in that span. In his 13-year career, Johnson has racked up 939 total tackles, 27.5 sacks, 23 forced fumbles, eight fumble recoveries, 14 interceptions, four defensive touchdowns and 78 passes deflected.
Johnson, 35, joins a youthful linebacking corps consisting of 28-year-old Tahir Whitehead, 24-year-old Cory James, and 22-year-olds Nicholas Morrow and Marquel Lee. The Raiders also drafted Washington linebacker Azeem Victor in the sixth round last weekend.
