ALAMEDA — Running back Doug Martin, the Raiders’ leading rusher a year ago, was released Sunday, according to an NFL Network report.
Martin rushed for 723 yards after taking over as the fulltime running back after a groin injury to Marshawn Lynch. It was Martin’s best season since 2015, when he rushed for 1,402 yards.
The #Raiders released RB Doug Martin, source said.
The Raiders have used Martin sparingly through three exhibition games. He didn’t suit up for a 22-21 win over the Green Bay Packers and had just two rushes for one yard.
