The Raiders were reportedly one of eight teams to place a waiver claim on safety D.J. Swearinger, who was released by the Houston Texans on May 11.
Along with Oakland, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens all put in claims, attempting to add Swearinger, according to a national report.
The Buccaneers, with top priority, landed the 23-year-old safety.
Swearinger, 23, was a second-round pick (No. 57 overall) in the 2013 NFL Draft, taken by the Texans.
He was the fifth safety selected in that class, after Texas' Kenny Vaccaro (Saints), LSU's Eric Reid (49ers), Florida's Matt Elam (Ravens) and FIU's Jonathan Cyprien (Jaguars).
