The Raiders have told kicker Sebastian Janikowski, their longest-tenured player, that they do not intend to bring him back next season, ESPN reported Wednesday.
The left-footed kicker known as “Seabass,” who turns 40 next month, is the franchise’s career leader in points (1,799) and games played (268). He spent all of last season on injured reserve with a back injury.
A first-round pick in 2000, Janikowski joined the Raiders during Jon Gruden’s first stint as head coach. He converted 80.4 percent of his field goals (414-of-515) in 17 seasons and 98.9 percent of his extra-point attempts.
Janikowski will be a free agent in March.
