Report: Gruden adding a familiar name in Brian Callahan as Raiders’ QBs coach

Jon Gruden is reportedly adding another offensive assistant- one quite close to the man who helmed Gruden’s offense in his first stint as Raiders head coach.

According to Albert Breer of The MMQB, the Raiders are hiring Brian Callahan as quarterbacks coach. Callahan is the son of Bill Callahan, who was Gruden’s offensive coordinator in Oakland from 1998-2001 and replaced Gruden as head coach after he was traded to Tampa Bay.

Brian Callahan spent the last two seasons as quarterbacks coach in Detroit, following six years as an offensive assistant with the Broncos. He was reportedly let go by the Lions earlier this week and had drawn interest from the Titans and Jets for coaching openings.
