The Oakland Raiders and quarterback Derek Carr are close to finalizing a deal that could pay the star QB roughly $25 million per year, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Schefter later added that Carr’s deal could be completed as early as next week. The market has been set for elite young QBs at just under $25 million a year, with the largest contract in NFL history going to Andrew Luck at approximately $24.6 Million.
Carr is absolutely deserving of the pay day after leading an MVP caliber season that saw the Raiders poised to make a big playoff run if not for a broken leg that ended Carr’s season.
