Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Eugene Monroe took the NFL's culture of using painkillers to mask physical issues in a piece he wrote in The Players' Tribune Tuesday as reported by Fox Sports.
He talked of pre-game lines of players waiting for injections of Toradol, a ``powerful painkiller which will help them through the game and its aftermath.''Monroe said such painkillers can cause more serious injury.``That's the point of these drugs _ they block out the pain and reduce inflammation,'' Monroe said. ``But they also temporarily mask injury. That's not a good thing if you get hurt during a game.
