The Raiders announced Saturday they’ve waived second-year safety Jonathan Dowling.Dowling, a seventh-round pick out of Western Kentucky, played in seven games as a rookie last season with four tackles. He had one tackle in each of the two preseason games and had an interception of Shaun Hill last week in Minnesota.
The Raiders signed a safety this week when they added Taylor Mays, so waiving Dowling could be good news for his odds of making the team. The team waived linebacker Chase Williams as Mays’ corresponding move, so this move isn’t tied in there in terms of a roster spot.
