Today the Raiders announced they have waived 2016 third-round pick, linebacker Shilique Calhoun. The former Michigan State standout played in 20 games with the Raiders, totaling eight tackles and five special teams tackles. He was in the rotation at defensive end for Monday night’s game, but didn’t make much impact on that stat sheet.
Calhoun was jettisoned to make room for newly signed DT Johnathan Hankins, who joined the team today. The Raiders have been doing plenty of roster shuffling of late, waiving and re-signing players galore, so it’s entirely possible that Calhoun’s time away from the team will be temporary.
