Raiders tight end Jared Cook proving to be ‘a quarterback’s best friend’

After Jared Cook set season highs of eight catches and 126 yards in the Raiders’ 27-24 win at Miami last Sunday, head coach Jack Del Rio referred to the tight end as a “matchup problem” for defenses.

Derek Carr this week offered another descriptive for Cook: “Quarterback’s best friend.”

“He does a good job of running with speed and getting vertical on all of his routes, so you never know what route it is,” Carr said. “If you hesitate for one second, he can run by you. But also his ability to run all the routes, inside and outside.
