OAKLAND — If Melvin Gordon’s 66-yard catch-and-run to the end zone looked familiar, that’s because Gareon Conley not being able to tackle in the open field and Reggie Nelson’s legs looking 35 years old like they are have been common themes of this miserable Raiders season.
Gordon caught a screen pass from Philip Rivers, easily evaded Conley’s grasp, or lack thereof, and cut inside to freeze Nelson before sprinting to the end zone untouched.
If the play looked familiar for another reason, it’s because Chargers backup running back Austin Ekeler took a similar screen pass 44 yards to the house last time these two teams met.
