The Raiders continued their defensive spending streak in adding former Giants safety Curtis Riley, who tweeted Friday morning that he’s heading to Oakland.
Riley started all 16 regular season games for the Giants last year and tallied four interceptions, more picks than any Raider had in 2018 (Gareon Conley and Marcus Gilchrist each had three). Riley, 26, returned one of his interceptions for a touchdown and also recorded 75 total tackles and five passes defensed.
Riley stands 6 feet tall, bigger than both Karl Joseph and Lamarcus Joyner, the first two on Oakland’s safety depth chart. Riley played free safety for the Giants last season, and could start there for the Raiders alongside Joseph with Joyner potentially seeing more time in the slot.
