The Raiders are signing free-agent guard Richie Incognito to a one-year contract, a source told the Bay Area News Group on Tuesday morning.
Incognito visited the Raiders on May 6 and the team came away impressed, but they waited a couple weeks to hear from the NFL about a possible suspension that would stem from Incognito’s August arrest at an Arizona funeral home. It’s unclear if Incognito will be suspended, but regardless the Raiders were clearly comfortable with what the league told them about potential discipline.
Incognito is in “fantastic shape physically and mentally,” one source said, and the mental aspect may be more important at this stage of his career.
