Raiders Sign Safety Marcus Gilchrist

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed unrestricted free agent S Marcus Gilchrist, the club announced Thursday.

Gilchrist signs with the Raiders after seven NFL seasons with the San Diego Chargers, New York Jets and Houston Texans. Over his career, Gilchrist has played in 107 games with 82 starts, totaling 426 tackles (330 solo), 11 interceptions, 33 passes defensed, four sacks, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He began his career as a cornerback and shifted to safety during the 2013 season.

Last season, the 5-foot-10, 200-pounder appeared in all 16 games for the Texans, making 13 starts at safety and totaling 56 tackles, one interception, six passes defensed, one sack and one forced fumble.
