Earlier this week, the Alliance of American Football had to shutter its doors after controlling owner Tom Dundon elected to suspend operations due to sagging TV ratings and an inability to get an agreement from the NFL Players' Association to use young players from NFL rosters in the league.
With the league shutting down, its players were granted permission to sign with NFL teams, and one landed in Oakland on Friday when the Raiders announced they signed defensive end Alex Barrett.
