ALAMEDA -- The Raiders officially moved defensive end Justin Tuck to season-ending injured reserve on Tuesday afternoon, a transaction expected for a while now. Tuck tore his right pectoral muscle in a Week 5 loss to the Denver Broncos that formally ended his season.
The Raiders filled his roster spot with a familiar face. They signed safety Taylor Mays for the third time since August, importing a veteran presence that should help on special teams. He had fallen out of favor on defense, but remains a reserve safety behind Charles Woodson and T.J. Carrie.
It also alters the position split of the roster, decreasing the defensive line to six members.
