NAPA _ Running back Trent Richardson was removed from the active/non-football illness list Thursday and was set for his first training camp practice with the Raiders.
Richardson was signed as a free agent by the Raiders during the offseason to a two-year $3.85 million contract with $600,000 guaranteed after being waived by the Indianapolis Colts.
The Raiders have not specified why Richardson was not cleared to practice when training camp began. Richardson has been working with trainers off to the side through the first five practices.
While there has been speculation that Richardson was being held out because of a weight issue, line coach Mike Tice said in an offseason interview on Sirius XM radio the running back had “lost some weight, his quickness came around.
