Las Vegas Raiders coach Antonio Pierce created some drama around the quarterback position Monday when he declined to fully commit to keeping Gardner Minshew as the starter heading into Sunday’s home game against the Cleveland Browns.
Pierce said “I think we’ve got to get with the players and just evaluate everything from yesterday first” when asked about Minshew’s status as the starter.
Then, though, NFL Media reported later in the day that the team is sticking with Minshew as the starter.
Aidan O’Connell entered Sunday’s blowout loss to the Carolina Panthers in garbage time and completed nine of 12 passes for 82 yards with a touchdown.
