ALAMEDA — The Raiders moved forward without Khalil Mack Sunday, with Jon Gruden even taking a few questions that didn’t have to do with the trade that sent the star defensive end to the Chicago Bears.

Then it was time to get back to work and make sure new backup quarterback AJ McCarron is getting acclimated to a new system.

McCarron, acquired from Buffalo for a fifth-round draft pick, will receive a crash course from quarterbacks coach Brian Callahan, offensive coordinator Greg Olson and Gruden to get him ready in the event starter Derek Carr is injured in the Monday night opener on Sept.
