ALAMEDA — The up and down career of Shilique Calhoun took another turn Tuesday when the Raiders promoted the former third-round draft pick from the practice squad.
Calhoun was waived last week when the Raiders signed defensive tackles Clinton McDonald and Johnathan Hankins and placed defensive tackle Justin Ellis on injured reserve. When no team put in a claim, Calhoun was re-signed to the practice squad.
McDonald and Hankins both played immediately in a 20-19 loss to Denver. The Raiders struggled to get outside pressure against Denver, and the hope is Calhoun — who also play special teams — can help in that regard.
