NAPA – While he’s at the Napa Valley Marriott, we haven’t seen running back Trent Richardson at a Raiders training camp practice. He’s on the active/non-football injury list with an undisclosed sickness, which has kept him away from team workouts.
That’s a disappointing start for the former first-round draft pick, considering there is some pessimism about whether he’ll make the 53-man roster.
Making matters worse for Richardson, undrafted rookie Michael Dyer is performing well in his absence. Dyer, built like a bowling ball at 5-foot-9, 218 pounds, has shown power and explosiveness throughout camp. On Sunday, the team’s first practice in pads, Dyer broke free on a few runs that impressed head coach Jack Del Rio.
