Two players that already could be looking at uphill climbs to make the Raiders roster will face a delayed start.
Linebacker Ben Heeney and tight end Cooper Helfet were placed on the non-football injury list on Tuesday, three days ahead of the team’s official report date for training camp in Napa. Both player still count against the team’s 90-man roster and can be activated at any time.
The NFI list, as the name suggests, covers injuries suffered outside of team activities, which would mean this is unrelated to the severe ankle injury Heeney endured Week 4 of last season.
